Going to my 30th this Aug. Wanted to look up former classmates ahead of me. Any info on what happened to Darlene? She was a close friend of mine in HS. Any word on when she passed on or cause? Thank you, Carl caejohnson1@cox.net

Carl, I was also a good friend of Darlen's.. we swam together on the swim team and carpooled to our practices. Lost touch over the years, but what a tragic loss. She was born in St. Louis, Mo. but arrived in San Diego in 1962. She grew up in the San Carlos area, graduating from Patrick Henry in 1978. Darlene furthered her education by attending Mesa Junior College, then transferring to Grossmont Community College, earning an AA degree and becoming a certified respiratory therapist. She served in that capacity at Mercy Hospital for 12 years. She returned to Grossmont and obtained a nursing degree in 1999 and again returned to Scripps Mercy as an RN in February 2000. Darlene is survived by her daughter, 13 year old Mariah Claire Foley; her parents, retired Navy Commander H. Daryl Foley, and Marcia Foley, both of San Carlos; three brothers, Patrick of Honolulu, Timothy (Tina), and Kevin of La Mesa; three sisters Colleen Long of Orange, Eileen Schramm (John) of La Mesa, and Maureen Walls (Tim) of San Diego; her companion Robert Whaley; along with ten nieces and three nephews. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her through her work, her support of Girls Scouts, youth soccer, and amateur photography. A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, November 5, 1p.m, Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church Fletcher Parkway and Navajo Road, El Cajon.
